Inleaf installs stunning Living wall in Mayfair, London

Inleaf has completed the installation of three living walls at a newly renovated office building on Grosvenor Street in Mayfair. The designer and main contractor appointed Inleaf to deliver a series of green walls that enhance the property’s high-spec ground floor terrace.

The installation includes three separate living walls, forming part of the terrace’s design. The largest wall spans a long boundary wall, while two smaller green walls surround the lightwell to the lower ground-floor; one facing the terrace and one visible from the office space above.

The team built two smaller walls around the lightwell. One wall faces the terrace and integrates with a designer pergola. The other faces the lightwell and can be seen from several offices above.

Inleaf selected hardy, diverse plants chosen add variety in colour, shape and texture. This plant mix ensures year-round visual appeal in the enclosed terrace environment. Key species include Acorus ‘Ogon’, Hedera helix, Bergenia cordifolia, Pachysandra, Asplenium scolopendrium, Vinca minor, Carex ‘Irish Green’, and Heuchera ‘Obsidian’.

The living wall uses the PlantBox system, which incorporates water-retaining modules designed to reduce water use and capture rainwater.

A dedicated automatic irrigation system, located in the lower-ground plant room, delivers water and nutrients through multiple irrigation zones tailored to each green wall elevation. The internet-connected controls allow remote monitoring and adjustment based on seasonal requirements.

Inleaf carries out regular living wall maintenance visits to ensure the long-term health and appearance of the walls. This includes biological pest control, pruning, weeding, and upkeep of the irrigation system.

The Mayfair installation brings greenery and character into a premium office setting. This enhances both the terrace environment and views from the surrounding workspaces. This installation demonstrates the versatility of living wall systems in urban architecture.
