Green study zones: Artificial planting at student accommodation in Glasgow
  • A custom 1.5m trough filled with fire and uv rated artificial foliage placed between study booths at Glasgow Kyle Park. Creating privacy and adding biophilic design to the area. 
  • Small desktop arrangements of Sansiverias, succulents and grass plants. Potted in aesthetically pleasing concrete style pots. Accompanied with larger plants to add texture and depth to the display.
  • Artificial plants chosen due to their zero maintenance and durability in high footfall areas. 

FMS Interiors contacted Inleaf to assist with the refurbishment of a student accommodation at Glasgow Kyle Park. FMS, a commercial fit out company, work closely with Inleaf on various projects bringing biophilic design to different locations across the country.

To transform the accommodation, the focal point of this installation was the bespoke trough and feature stand. We used our signature artificial wall panels to create this design. High quality mixed leaf foliage makes up these panels. All this foliage is fire rated and UV stable to prevent discolouration in sunlight. A matt black metal stand and trough provided externally for this project measuring 1.5 meters in length. FMS placed this bespoke trough between booths to give students privacy while studying.

To go with this trough we installed many artificial desktop displays. These displays included plants such as succulents, Sansiverias and grass plants. We potted each plant in a concrete effect container to match the aesthetic of the room. 

To add texture and depth to this display we installed taller artificial plants. Featuring plants such as Zamio plants, Birds of Paradise plants and Monsteras. We selected these plants due to their life-like textures and proportions to aid student productivity and well being.

We opted for artificial plants for this student accommodation due to their zero maintenance. They are also hypoallergenic and durable and they are suitable for areas with high foot fall.
