12 Floors of Green: Transforming Peninsula’s Manchester Office with plants
  • Inleaf helped Peninsula bring greenery into their 12-floor Manchester office.
  • Statement plants enhance both the interior and entrance areas.
  • Ongoing maintenance keeps the office looking healthy and inspiring year-round.

Inleaf partnered with Peninsula to introduce biophilic design into their 12-floor Manchester office. With over 40 years of experience supporting UK businesses with HR and health and safety, Peninsula wanted a workspace that was not only functional but also vibrant and welcoming for their employees and visitors alike.

Welcoming Outdoor Features

At the entrance, 5 XL clipped Buxus balls in tall square planters create a striking first impression. With a clean, sculpted look complements the building’s modern style, hinting at the design theme carried throughout the space.

Transforming the Interior

Inside, we finished the planters in textured anthracite grey or silver to match the sleek office design. Installations spanned the ground floor, floors 1–6, and floors 9–12, making this one of Inleaf’s biggest single-site office transformations.

Across every floor, we added a tropical mix of plants to the client’s containers, sometimes integrated with booth seating. We placed larger plants in lounge areas, kitchens, main offices, boardrooms, and even the owner’s office. Each plant was carefully chosen for light, temperature, and appearance, ensuring every space received the perfect living design element.

We balanced scale and impact by mixing smaller desk-level plants with taller statement pieces. Dracaena Dorados and Howea Palms stood as floor features in entranceways and boardrooms, adding elegance and height. Large Sansevierias and Philodendron Poles in generous troughs absorbed sound and subtly screened desks near entrances.

The final design brings variety and flow throughout the office. Key areas, from main workspaces to entrances, now feel vibrant, welcoming, and visually engaging.

Artificial Solutions for Low-Light Areas

For spaces with little to no natural light, such as confined lifts. In these areas we opted for artificial foliage. Living plants would struggle in these conditions, so artificial greenery was a practical solution.
Along with artificial freestanding plants in areas with no natural light. Inleaf also installed artificial trailing foliage from a suspended ceiling feature. We chose artificial foliage because it creates a feature display without taking up any floor space.. This display requires no maintenance and provides a bold feature all year round.

Inleaf continues to care for all the plants in the office. Our team ensures all 10 floors remain healthy throughout the year.

Peninsula were thrilled with the results. The greenery has brought their office to life. It is now welcoming, vibrant and inspiring for employees
