Enhancing Halliwell Jones’ handover bay with Bespoke Moss Wall
  • Halliwell Jones sought to enhance their showroom experience to reflect their reputation for premium vehicles and service.
  • The moss wall, measuring 5.11m x 2.9m, was carefully integrated within the handover bay’s layout. Designed with a custom-built wooden frame complementing the showroom’s aesthetic.
  • The moss wall’s blend of bun and flat moss in a 30:70 ratio, along with a variety of green tones, created a visually appealing and organic feel.

Halliwell Jones, a family owned UK Motor retail group operating BMW and MINI franchises across the North West of England and North Wales. With their reputation for premium vehicles and service, they wanted to reflect this in their showroom.

Their team contacted Inleaf to design and install a distinctive feature wall. This wall is to be located in their mini multifunctional handover bay. The goal being to create a more luxurious space for customers when picking up their vehicles.

Moss walls are ideal for interiors where visual impact and low upkeep is essential. Unlike living walls, preserved moss walls do not need soil, irrigation or sunlight. Moss walls are also convenient for areas of high footfall. As this avoids common issues such as plant damage and allergy concerns thus making it a durable solution to an area.

The moss was carefully integrated within the handover bay’s layout. Inleaf created a custom built wooden frame around the moss. This created a clean contemporary finish, complementing the showroom. The wooden frame measures 5.11m x 2.9m, making it a significant feature within the space.  The layout was thoughtfully designed around an existing electrical charging point. Inleaf ensured functionality wasn’t compromised whilst maintaining visual impact.

The feature wall is a blend of bun and flat moss with a ratio of 30:70, creating visual interest through a variety of textures and patterns. Inleaf used a variety of tones of moss to create a more organic feel to this wall. The mixture of mosses creates a 3D look with bun moss providing texture and volume, the flat moss offering a smooth clean background.

By collaborating with Inleaf, Halliwell Jones has created an environment that enhances the customer experience. This project shows the positive impact biophilic design can have on aesthetics and functionality.
