In today’s fast paced work environment, the importance of rest and relaxation is more vital than ever. To this end, Inleaf were asked by Crown Paints to refurbish their employee relaxation rooms with a biophilic approach that reduces stress and invites employees to unwind.
To begin this installation, we divided the space into phases. In the first area, Crown had created a vibrant relaxation lounge, complete with muted pink walls and an illuminated bar. To compliment the colourful atmosphere we installed a mixture of tall, freestanding plants and smaller displays, such as Dracaena fragrans, Calathea sanderiana, and Kentia palms placed strategically to add visual interest to the area. Each display was fitted with a self watering system to keep maintenance to a minimum.
Throughout the first room we suspended hanging displays of Monsteras and Epipremnums, adding greenery without using floor space. These trailing plants were chosen to reduce stress and enhance mood. Lastly, Inleaf created a small flower arrangement using a bespoke mixture of dried flowers to sit on top of the illuminated bar tying together the mixture of colours.
In the next phase we tackled a smaller walkway room with minimal décor. We created a large bespoke dried flower arrangement set in a custom built trough to be the feature. To complete the display, we topped it with reindeer moss, finishing the look and creating a seamless design. Dried flowers were selected to create a textured, low-maintenance centrepiece that reflects the room’s aesthetic with little to no maintenance as there’s no natural daylight in this area.
The last phase contained a central seating library. In the centre of this area Inleaf installed an extra large feature artificial Olive Tree with a majestic trunk. This tree is 2.6 meters tall and is supported with a bespoke internal shelf, hidden with decorative pebbles. To bring this all together bespoke seating was designed around the olive tree creating a more inviting space for employees to relax.
To complete the last room, we dotted the area with a variety of tabletop plants and flowers including Aglonemas and Philodendrons to combine the colour from the custom made tapestry wall and the bespoke seating. Each plant was chosen for its calming presence and aesthetic appeal.
Crown were overjoyed with the results of this project and are continuing to work closely with Inleaf on future projects.
