How IGT’s Office Redesign Used Plants to Enhance Acoustics, Privacy, and Employee Well-being

Inleaf were approached by IGT in Manchester to assist with an office refurb. This makeover incorporated living, artificial and preserved greenery to bring the office to life. 

IGT are global leaders in gaming, they are primarily known for their role in the development of gaming machines, lottery systems and digital gaming products. 

IGT wanted to add greenery to their office and throughout the building. To achieve this we completed the makeover in a series of stages. 

In phase one, the goal was to improve office acoustics using artificial plants.The foliage was strategically placed on bespoke batons to enhance this and the visual appeal. This trailing greenery softened the kitchen’s industrial look, providing a contrast to the exposed concrete ceiling while improving acoustics and adding aesthetic value.

Artificial greenery was incorporated throughout the office. Bespoke artificial grids were suspended from the ceiling on steel wire, creating a visual and organic look. This design choice helped to soften the harshness of the unusual concrete ceiling and break up the walkway dividing the office from the gaming machines.

For phase two, we placed large, floor-standing living plants such as Aglonemas and Philodendrons along with a variety of other greenery throughout each individual office. To complement the living plants, we designed large moss panels for the walls using a mix of bun and flat mosses. This combination of living plants and textured moss displays added depth and visual interest to the space. 

Lastly, for phase three, we focused on enhancing the outdoor terraces by adding a variety of greenery, such as pre grown Ivy screens. To further enhance the space, we filled planters with an array of evergreen plants, which helped to break up the view of other offices and create a more private space for IGT’s employees.

The client was delighted with each installation phase and the final product, particularly as it creates a softer and more natural office environment.
