Bespoke moss world map

- We were asked to create a feature wall that represented each of our client’s locations
- This wall was created using three types of preserved moss
- Locations were represented with fibre optic lights placed throughout the map
Inleaf were approached by a client who was looking for a novel way to highlight their multiple offices across the world. This was part of a scheme of greenery within their full office refurbishment.
Our client’s reception area had a sleek modern look, with a contemporary colour palette featuring cool toned woods and white walls, this combined with the modern LED lighting creates a perfect canvas for a moss feature wall.
The map was enlarged to perfectly fit the walls dimensions and specialist design software was used by our designer so the map could be cut using a digital CNC machine and it was assembled on the wall with a negative space template.
Throughout the reception area three types of moss were used for this project: flat, bun and reindeer moss. The use of three mosses brings a variety of colours and textures to the map, whilst also achieving a three-dimensional look. Bun moss couldn’t be used on the smaller islands, reindeer moss and flat moss were used as a replacement.
We were asked to incorporate small fibre optic lights to indicate the clients offices across the globe. The wall was built with a void behind large enough to fit a person so the electrical work could all be hidden behind the wall and allowed our team to thread the fibre optic lights from the back to the front achieving the client’s desired effect.
Our client was extremely pleased with the outcome of this feature wall project. Our client has already requested more planting and moss walls to be incorporated throughout their office as the refurbishment progresses.
